Programme 2011

The 5th festival of Tibetan films and films about Tibet FLIM 2011, organised by Potala NGO, brings to you:

  • retrospective of filmmakers Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam (Vaclav Havel Price and Rudolf Vrba Price at the One World Film Festival 2010);
  • Czech premiere of Meltdown in Tibet, talking openly about environment protection on the Tibetan Plateau;
  • legendary Adrian Cowell’s Raid into Tibet, documenting Khampa warriors’ attack on Chinese military convoy in 1964;
  • epic documentary about Tibetan struggle for freedom When the Dragon Swallowed the Sun, starring music by Philip Glass;
  • moving and highly controversial Canadian picture What Remains of Us, looking at the Chinese occupation of Tibet through the eyes of Tibetans themselves;
  •  and many more of Tibetan films and films about Tibet...

The festival programme will be accompanied by a presentation of Czech edition of Mikel Dunham’s book Buddha’s Warriors, published by Paseka publishing house, and photo exhibition Karel Beba: Tibet „mysterious“ ... and dying.
