17.10.2016 - 15:00

The International Campaign for Tibet is organising a panel discussion on "Chinese new counter-terrorism strategies in Tibet and the connection to the environment and climate change” in Prague next Monday 17 October during the Festival of Democracy of the Forum 2000. The event, which will take place from 15h00 to 16h00 at the Austrian Cultural Center (just after the welcome by His Holiness the Dalai Lama), is now mentioned on the programme of the festival at (page 4). Kate Saunders (Director of Research and Communication at ICT) and Vincent Metten (ICT’s EU Policy Director) will present ICT’s upcoming report, "Chinese new law on counter-terrorism: Implications and Dangers for Tibetans and Uyghurs”, which focuses on the new counter-terrorism law of China that came into effect on 1 January 2016, and its impacts on human rights (especially in Xinjiang and Tibet), as well as international responses (copies of the report’s executive summary and other material on the issue will be available). It will also analyse the connection between the new counter-terrorism strategies in Tibet and the environment and climate change.

It would be great if you could join us on this occasion, and we would be grateful if you could also advertise the event to your members and networks in the Czech Republic and on your social media accounts -you can use the flyer attached.
